KS 2 Orienteering - Bretton Park

Bretton Park OrienteeringAround 500 pupils from Key Stage 2 took part in the first ever Orienteeing and Arts Event which was held at Bretton Sculpture Park on Friday 5th June. Pupils had the chance to complete an Orienteering course and then use natural features from the park to create their own scultptures. Some of theses were excellent and a sample can be seen HERE. The Orienteering course set out was probably the most challenging of the year but it was still excellent to see that the number of incorrect control cards was very low. This shows that schools and youngsters are practicing very hard and are improving year on year. Times for completing the course varied but it was good to see that pupils still persevered even if it had taken them a long time.

Winners in each of the categories can be seen below. Each will recieve a winners t-shirt which will be distributed through the SSCo's as soon as possible. There is also a certificate to download for schools to distribute as they wish.

Thanks to the Young Leaders from Barnsley College and Kingstone High who helped to marshall the event and also to Yorkshire Sculpture Park for allowing us to use the facility for the day.
